VOLUNTEER

At Corvilla, we have several opportunities for you or local groups to volunteer. Please read below to find the best fit for you or the group you represent. There is an application along with an orientation process for individuals. You will be contacted by our Communications and Media Specialist, Maria Guevara, who will take you through the volunteer process and answer any questions you may have.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Day Services

M-F

8 am - 4 pm

Building relationships is key to volunteering for our day program. If you are a social person and like to play board games, sing karaoke, or just want to hang out and talk, connections is the right volunteer opportunity for you. Help support our day program staff M-F between the hours of 8a-4p. This position requires reliable transportation.

Stuodio Five9 - Art Program

M-F

9 am - 2:30 pm

Lead by our Art Coordinator, Torie Kelley, Studiofive9 is an extension of our Connections day program that offers fine art, woodworking, sewing, and so much more in the way of art mediums. If you have a love for art or a specific art skill, this is a great place to work alongside individuals with disabilities. You will help create beautiful art pieces that our clients can sell online or at our local shop. M-F between the hours of 8a-4p. This position requires reliable transportation. 

Residential Group Home

Weekends and Evenings

Group Homes: Corvilla has 4 group homes in the South bend area, each one unique. The most important factor here is building relationships. You will have the opportunity to socialize with the residents in the evenings or weekends. This may include playing games, watching a movie, assist with mealtime, or participating in other recreational activities. Available times in the evenings and weekends. 


Descriptions as follows:

  • Bulla Road - This house is within walking distance from Notre Dame Campus. A home of eight female residents.

  • Fellows Street - The residents at Fellows are both men and women with higher needs.

  • Roelke Drive - A home of five women, Roelke is our most active and independent home. They have a pet cat.

  • Myrtle Avenue - This house is a home to seven residents who enjoy movies and socializing. They have a pet rabbit.

Employment Services - PreETS

M-F

8 am - 4 pm 

Housed at our Granger location, Employment Services covers St. Joesph, Elkhart, and Marshal Counties serving teens and adults with employment training, support, and transition programs. Volunteer needs will vary within this department.

Office Work

M-F

8 am - 4 pm 

This position is a great fit for you if you are social, enjoy answering phones, greeting guests, and don’t mind a little light cleaning. Volunteer hours will be held at our corporate office in South Bend M-F between the hours of 8a-4p.This position requires reliable transportation.

Building and Grounds

M-F

8 am - 4 pm 

Help our maintenance team with outdoor grounds and building maintenance, yard work, and light home upkeep. Our Bulla Road home is just a short walk from campus. If you have reliable transportation, this could include volunteer hours at our corporate office, one of our other three homes, or day program. This position may include less interaction with residents, however, you will have an opportunity to get to know some when working at home. M-F between the hours of 8a-4p.

South Bend Location Garden

M-F

8 am - 4 pm 

April to October, every Wednesday afternoon starting at Noon, Corvilla welcomes our local Purdue Master Gardeners who work alongside our day program clients while tending our garden. If you have a green thumb and reliable transportation, this may be the volunteer interest for you. From planting in the Spring to harvest in the Fall, there are many opportunities for you!

Football Parking

In the Fall During Notre Dame Football Season

Every Fall Corvilla runs a parking fundraiser near Notre Dame campus at our Bulla House location. This is our largest fundraiser of the year. We are always looking for volunteers to help with parking. We run it in shifts so that it is easy to commit to a couple of hours and even catch the game. Individuals, groups of two or more welcome.
