We need to purchase four generators as back up power for our four group homes. Each home needs to raise $5,000 to purchase and install the generators.
Why is this so important?
When the power goes out, the lives of our residents are greatly disrupted. They are unable to cook, have no lights, no electronics and no hot water. Most importantly, their routine is disrupted. If the power is out for an extended period of time, it becomes necessary to relocate our residents, upsetting them, their lives and routine even more. For us, when the power goes out, it's annoying. For people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, it alters their life in a substantial way. Keeping day to day activity as routine as possible and ensuring constant stability, is the ultimate goal.
